Midwest Computer Recyclers (MCR) is the Midwest’s source for collecting and recycling E-waste. Founded in 2001, MCR has been providing Corporate, Manufacturer and Consumer recycling programs covering local, state, regional and national levels for the betterment of the environment.

Midwest Computer Recyclers’ goal is to provide a recycling path for the public and private sectors of our community. By implementing a recycling program for obsolete and used computer equipment, we do our part to create a safer environment.

What kinds of technology does your organization utilize?

Due to the variety the equipment we receive, we have to do manual disassembly to minimize the amount of scrap and maximize electronic components that can be recycled.

From an organizational standpoint, our company relies a great deal on the internet. We do not do a lot of traditional advertising so we depend on our customers being able to find us online but also to learn about our services and rates.
What technological challenges does your organization currently face?

The electronics industry is always changing technology and coming up with new equipment.  Our stream of material is always changing and we need to adjust our techniques and processes accordingly.

What, if any, technology policy issues are of importance to your organization?

Mandatory electronics recycling laws and landfill bans are two issues that Midwest Computer Recyclers keeps a keen eye on.

How does your organization see the future of technology in Wisconsin?

Technology is going to be a necessary route for growth in Wisconsin.

Why did you decide to partner with Wired Wisconsin?

As a technology-issue coalition, Wired Wisconsin sought Midwest Computer Recyclers out as a strategic partner due to our like-minded belief that electronic waste is a growing problem.
