Recycle your old electronics with IndependenceFirst and AT&T on Saturday

August 21 2012

Two Wired Wisconsin partner organizations, IndependenceFirst and AT&T Wisconsin, are holding a free electronic collection drive on Saturday, August 25 from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Pettit National Ice Center in Milwaukee. In addition, they are being joined in this effort by River Run Computers.

Computer donations will benefit IndependenceFirst, a nonprofit agency directed by and for the benefit of people with disabilities that primarily serves the four-county metropolitan Milwaukee area.

The following electronics with a plug or battery will be accepted: computers, laptops, cell phones, tablets, appliances and TVs, as well as computer accessories like mice and keyboards. Recycling is being provided by DP Electronics Recycling.

For those who are unable to attend the event Saturday and still want to recycle old electronics, the following alternative dates are also available:
• Thursday, August 23, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. – AT&T Corporate Office, N17W24300 Riverwood Dr., Waukesha (rain or shine)
• Friday, August 24, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. – AT&T Corporate Office, 722 N. Broadway, Milwaukee (rain or shine)
• Weekly, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. – River Run Computers Headquarters, 2320 W. Camden Road, Glendale (small electronics only)

The E-Cycle Wisconsin program requires state residents to recycle their electronic waste. More information about the products covered under Wisconsin’s e-waste law and a list of other collection sites is available at http://dnr.wi.gov/topic/ecycle/wisconsin.html.

I am hoping that people will participate in this kind of events. Donations will help many disabled people.
